Villages Vintage Car Club Monday
February 16, 2009
The regular meeting of the Villages Vintage Car Club was held on February 16, 2009 at the Truman Recreation Center. President Jim Maiurro called the meeting to order at 7:05 pm and led the membership in the Pledge of Allegiance.
The minutes of the January 19, 2009 were read by Prentiss Yates. A motion was made and seconded to accept the minutes as read. Motion was carried.
The Treasurer’s report was read by Mike Ferlisi. A motion was made and seconded to approve the treasurer’s report as read. Motion carried.
President Maiurro gave a brief overview of upcoming events for 2009. There are 20 events scheduled. Thanks were given to Bill and Joanne Horne for coordinating the refreshments and special thanks to those that made deserts.
President Maiurro introduced 4 guest speakers.
The first was Jack of The Antique Automobile Club of America. He was just elected a National Director and reviewed upcoming antique car shows in the area.
The second was John Timko of the Marion County Sheriff’s office. The Sheriff’s office is sponsoring a car show on April 4, 2009 from 9 to 3 pm. The entry fee is $15 and the funds raised will be used to pay for the volunteers that work with the Sheriff.
The third guest speaker was Member Bob Giles. He reviewed the May 9 Cystic Fibrosis fund raiser. He would like walkers, drivers of golf carts or cars to “walk” for a cure for CF.
The fourth was Wayne Anderson of American Classic Dream Cars. They are located on Baseline Road and will sell antique and collectable cars. On April 4 they will have an open house from 9 to 3.

President Maiurro reviewed the following:
We would like to form a new member welcoming committee. The new member would be assigned to a committee member. The committee member would introduce the new member to the local cruise-ins, vendors and rods shops.
A limo ride is needed for a wedding.
The NSRA safety inspection scheduled for April 4 has been canceled due a lack of participation.
The Montana Pinstriping group pinstriping has been canceled due to a lack of participation.
Bob Schaeffer and Allen Stowe are in charge of the valve cover race. Details to follow.

New Business
There will be a vendor page on the website. These vendors will offer a discount to club members of at least 10% or some reduction in their normal rates.
Bill Horne has been certified as a NSRA safety inspector.
Announcements
Pauly’s Pizza had 10 cars on very short notice.
Big City Grill had 60 cars and Steve Haumann won a trophy.
The Orange Blossom Hills had 17 cars. We had nine winners:

There will be a new cruise-in at Legend’s Café in Fruitland Park. It will be the 4th Thursday of the month from 6 to 9 starting February 28. Each participant will receive a free piece of pizza.
The Villages Vintage Car Club mission will be printed to provide a handout.
There is a break-in problem in The Villages and all members are urged to be alert.
Judges for the February car show are Rick Welsh and Bob Klousterman
There were 87 members and guests present at the meeting. The 50/50 drawing provided 2 drawings.
A motion was made, seconded and motion carried to adjourn the meeting at 8:00 pm.
