Villages Vintage Car Club Monday

May 11,2009

         The regular meeting of the Villages Vintage Car Club was held on May 11,2009 at the Truman Recreation Center. President Jim Maiurro called the meeting to order at 7:05 pm and led the membership in the Pledge of Allegiance.

 

        REPORTS: Acting Recording Secretary Mike Varga read the Minutes of the April 20 meeting. A motion was made and Seconded to accept the minutes as read. Motion carried.

 

      Treasurer Mike Ferlisi read the Treasurers report. A motion was made and seconded to accept the treasurers report as read motion carried.

 

     UPCOMMING EVENTS: May 30 Club Picnic Club will pick up the cost of the Picnic, June 11th

Night Golf at Saddle Brook, July 12 Family Day, August Assisted Living car show, September 27

Mystery Cruse, September 27°’ Lake Ridge Winery, October 19” Pot Luck Dinner, October 23 Lake

Sumpter Landing Car Show and in December the annual Christmas Party.

 

     NEW MEMBERS: Gerg and Cheryl Steckny, Joe and Cathy Singleton and Ken and Sue Wailer

 

    UNFINISHED BIJISNESS: Al Stone reported that he met with the owner of the Marion Market and he was very interested in having our car show at his facility. We can use up to four acres for the show at no cost to the club. The only thing that he wants is to have the Vendor part of the show. Al reported that we will have the Car Show, Swap Meet, Car Coral and possibility of having a Valve Cover Race. Al also reported that National Parts Depot might pick up part of the price of the trophies we will give out. Al said we will need all the help we can get from members if this show is going to be a success The possible date for the event will be in January of 2010. More information will be coming.

 

     A question of needing event insurance at a cost of fifteen hundred dollars was asked and also about getting a contract from the owner of Marion Market was brought up on the floor. President Maiurro said he will look into it.

 

    NEW BUISNESS: The subject of changing the club logo was discussed on the floor after some debate some members said keep it the way it is being that this is the only original thing that is left of the club. President Maiurro said he will discuss the matter with the Board.

 

    A question was asked why we give out trophies at the Villages monthly Cruise in when the show is not ours also why we gave out trophies at the last Sweet Bay show when the show was not ours. We will need all the money we can get if we are to have a show of our own at Marion Market. President Maiurro said he wjll discuss it with the Board.

 

     President Maiurro said that the club is now on channel two and channel 20 for  club announcements and that members  need to advertise and get our name out to the public.

 

     Gerri Varga reported that she was approached by a member of Toojays to see if we would be interested in attending a car show and sock hop if they put one on. President Maiurro asked Gerri to get more information

 

    ANNOUNCEMENTS: Judges for the June villages Cruise In will be Cern Varga and Pam 1-lendricksen and Joe Singleton and Mike Ferlisi.

         President Maiurro reported that we received a thank you card from the curator of the Lady Lake Museum for our participation in their car show. We had fifteen cars at the show.

       President Maiurro reported that the attendance at the Sweetbay car show by members were less than last year also that Melony will not be doing the car show any more.

 

       Tony Rizzo thanked the club for receiving the Carry Woodward trophy at the May Cruise in and said he was honored to receive the award.

 

     President Maiurro reported that Corky Ecks mother passed away and

     Prentiss Yates mother aiso passed away our sincere sympathy goes out to our members family.

 

     CLOSING: A motion was made to close the meeting and seconded motion passed.

President Maiurro closed the meeting at 8:10 pm
